in Cap. V. § 14. b. gemachten Zuſatz, die Privatbeichte betreffend, erhobenen
Bedenken und Einwürfe zu conferiren. Der Präſes theilte nun das Ergeb⸗

The Congregation at St. Charles.

A petition came before the Synod from a number of Lutherans in and
near St. Charles, Mo., asking that it send them an Ev. Lutheran pastor.
The Synod inquired into the circumstances, disposition, and needs of the
petitioners, and recognized it as its duty, in view of the very difficult
conditions there, to send as capable a man as possible. Among the various
persons proposed for that post, Pastor F. Sievers, currently at
Frankenmuth, Mich., seemed to it the most suitable man; Pastor Fick was
therefore asked to inform him that the Synod would propose him, Pastor
Sievers, to the congregation at St. Charles as their pastor, and the
secretary was charged with notifying that congregation of this.

The offer of the Presbyterians at St. Charles to open their church for
shared use by the Lutherans there prompted the question of whether sharing
the use of a church of a different confession was permissible — which was
granted in general, though without denying that there could be cases in
which accepting such an offer would amount to a denial of the faith.

Private Confession and General Confession.

At last year's synodical convention, the St. Louis pastors' conference
had been charged with conferring with Pastor Keyl — then at Frohna, Perry
Co., Mo., now at Milwaukee, Wisc. — regarding the concerns and objections
he had raised against the addition made in Chapter V, §14.b, concerning
private confession. The Präses now shared the result...
