(Eingesandt von Prof. Crämer.)
Bericht der sechsten ordentlichen Synodalversammlung der
norwegisch = evangelisch = lutherischen Kirche in Amerika,

(Submitted by Prof. Crämer.)
Report of the Sixth Regular Synodical Convention of the
Norwegian = Evangelical = Lutheran Church in America,
held in the church at Rock River, Wisc., from June 10 to 17, 1863.
Under this heading the "Maanedstidende" of August of this year contains the first part of this year's synodical report of our beloved Norwegian brethren. That at least an excerpted German translation of it follows here is done certainly in the spirit and according to the wish of all readers of "Lehre und Wehre" within our synodical district, who take the keenest interest in the weal and woe of the Norwegian sister synod so intimately bound to us, and it will not fail to be of great interest to the other readers as well.
We gather from this report, first, that the synod assembled on Wednesday, June 10, 1863, in the new church at Rock River, Wisc., in the congregation of the Rev. Past. Brandt, and began with the dedication of this new church, at which the Rev. Past. Muus preached the opening sermon on Ps. 84:11, and the Rev. Past. Koren preached the dedication sermon on 1 Pet. 2:5 and 6. At 4 o'clock in the afternoon the first regular session began, which, like all the others, was opened with a Scripture reading, singing, and prayer. Present were: 15 voting ministers, 75 delegates of the congregations, 1 member of the church council, 8 advisory ministers — of whom, however, 6 became voting members in the course of the sessions — 1 schoolteacher, and 8 delegates, in all 108 members. Absent were only the Pastors P. M. Brodahl and N. Amlund. Several congregations, namely in Minnesota, had also sent no delegates, but all except a single one were excused.
The names of the voting ministers are:
A. C. Preus, Pastor of Coon Prairie and the congregations belonging thereto in Wis.
