(S.⸗K. 5 [1876], 54.)

V. über Pflichten des Sekretärs.

(S.⸗K. 3 [1874], 47. 20
[1904], 76. 28 [1922], 50.)

Standing Rules of the Synodical Conference. 51

at least that it would be better if it became a usage among us not to pronounce any praise on
the synodical reports; for what we alone want and
ought to know is whether the doctrine carried in the reports is correct and in accordance with
the Word of God. — The committee report is also at the same time to call attention to
anything questionable. (Proceedings 10 [1884], 92.
5 [1876], 54.) — To be valid it must be signed by both
committee members.

3. It is the wish of the Conference that every president of the individual
synods, both as regards the Joint Synods and their districts,
send the reports of the same to the presidents of the other synods,
so that all may learn what goes on and is dealt with in the synods.
(Proceedings 5 [1876], 54.)

V. On the Duties of the Secretary.

1. The Secretary is to notify the committees for the examination of the synodical reports
of their task and at the same time to see to it that
the reports are delivered to them. (Proceedings 12 [1888], 57.) . . .

4. The Secretary is instructed to put in order the matter of any debts on
the printing of the synodical reports, namely to induce the presidents
of the individual synods to give their treasurers
instructions to send their respective share of the debt to the treasurer of the
Synodical Conference. (Proceedings 8 [1879], 49.)

5. The needs of the Synodical Conference are to be defrayed pro rata, distributed among
the synods belonging to the Synodical Conference in proportion to
the number of members by which they are entitled to send delegates to the Conference.
The Secretary shall calculate how much falls to
each synod and announce it to the presidents concerned. (Proceedings 2
[1873], 30. 31. 8 [1879], 49. 9 [1882], 103.)

6. At least six weeks before the convention of the Synodical Conference
the Secretary is to announce it in the respective church papers
and to remind that every credential of the
delegates must be signed by the president and by the secretary of the synod or
district concerned, and that one copy each
of these credentials is to be sent to the President and to the Secretary of the
Synodical Conference as well as to the pastor in whose congregation the
convention is to meet. (Proceedings 3 [1874], 47. 20
[1904], 76. 28 [1922], 50.)

VI. On the Treasury of the Negro Mission.

The President is always to appoint a committee that before every
convention of the Synodical Conference shall audit on the spot the account books of the
Negro Mission. (Proceedings 10 [1884], 89.)

VII. On Standing Rules.

The standing rules of the Synodical Conference are each time to be
printed on the inside of the cover of the Proceedings of the Synodical Conference. (Proceedings 15 [1894], 79.)
