Das vom Präſes darüber eingeſetzte Komitee berichtete wie folgt:

Lutheran Church is in sore need of an English hymnal; and

WHEREAS, The present hymnals do not fill the need, information
concerning deficiencies particularly of a linguistic nature, having
been brought to the attention of the committee; and,

WHEREAS, the question is of such great importance and of such
far-reaching consequences; therefore, be it

Resolved, That we ask the church-bodies comprising the Synod-

necessary preliminary steps having this end in view.

To this end we furthermore recommend that each of the four
church-bodies concerned, if it meet within the next year, be asked to

the compilation and publication of such a hymnal. In case any of
the bodies concerned do not meet within the next year, we ask the
president of such body or bodies to appoint a committee to represent
the respective body.

We beg leave to remark that the attention of the committee was
also called to the advisability of having a new English translation of
Luther's Catechism (Enchiridion) for use in the Synodical Con-
ference.

Respectfully submitted,
