36 Verhandlungen der dreißigſten Verſammlung

Komiteebericht.

gende Empfehlungen:

A. Miſſionsſtationen.

Zu 1., Little Rock, Ark. Wir empfehlen, daß die Synodalkon⸗
ferenz P. Ad. H. Poppe für ſeine Dienſte ihren herzlichen Dank votiere.
Angenommen.

$1,500. — Angenommen. Die Kommiſſion wurde ermuntert, hier
prompt zu handeln.

36 Proceedings of the thirtieth convention

Committee Report.

Your committee, which was appointed to discuss the report of the Board
for Negro Mission and to make recommendations on it,
herewith takes the liberty of submitting the following report to the Reverend Synodical Conference
(*Synodalkonferenz*).

With praise and thanks to God we acknowledge that the dear
Saviour, the LORD of his church, has also in the last two years
owned our work. We were permitted to open a number of new mission
posts; the number of souls has grown nicely; inward
growth, too, is to be recorded. For such blessing we would humbly
thank our God with heart, mouth and hands. — By rising
in silent devotion the convention associated itself with this
expression.

Following the report of the Board we now make the following
recommendations:

A. Mission Stations.

On 1., Little Rock, Ark. We recommend that the Synodical Conference
vote its hearty thanks to Rev. Ad. H. Poppe for his services.
Adopted.

On 9., Augustana, Alexandria, La. We recommend approving
the course of action of the Board and granting the further sum of
$3,000. — Adopted.

On 12., Charlotte, N. C. Since our property there is in a
poor condition, but something proper must be done here
if our mission is not to suffer harm, we recommend an
appropriation of $10,000 for the school. — Adopted.

On 15., Bethlehem, Monroe, N. C. In order that our work may be properly carried on also at this
important post, we recommend
an appropriation of $5,000 for the school. — Adopted.

On 28., Grace, Greensboro, N. C. For this city, which is the
centre of our mission in North Carolina, the seat of our largest
educational institution and therefore one of our most important mission posts, we recommend an appropriation of $15,000 for a new school. —
Adopted.

On 32., Pomona, near Greensboro. Recommendation: $2,000 for a
portable school building. — Adopted.

On 33., St. Luke's, Spartanburg. Since the school here is ideally situated,
and church attendance at the present location is also good, your
committee could find no readiness to recommend the requested new building,
and therefore recommends that the requested sum not be granted. —
Adopted.

On 49., Lamison, Ala. For this station we recommend an
appropriation of $1,000. Since a magnanimous patron of our mission
has offered to donate this sum for a Negro church, we
recommend accepting this offer with joyful thanks and using the
donated sum for Lamison. — Adopted.

On 54., Ebenezer, Atmore, Ala. Since a building with room
for two classrooms together with a place of worship can be bought cheaply,
we recommend for it the appropriation of the requested sum of
$1,500. — Adopted. The Board was encouraged to act
promptly here.
