To Have All Congregations Publicize
Their Synodical Affiliation
Wuereas, Many of the members of our Missouri Synod
congregations travel extensively and are away from home
quite frequently; and
Wuereas, Many of these members wish to attend churches
of our Synod when they are away from home and should
be encouraged to do so; therefore be it
Resolved, That all congregations be urged to publicize
their affiliation with The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod
on their church bulletin boards, newspaper and telephone
directory advertising, and all other forms of publicity.

To Dissolve Committee on Publishing
Walther’s Writings
Whereas. Over the past 10 years the Committee on Pub-
lishing Walther's Writings has assembled and indexed Dr.
c. F. W. Walther's writings and has produced typed tran-
scriptions of the Walther correspondence from the German
Gothic script of the Walther correspondence: and
WuerEas. The committee has spent much time in the
selection of Walther's writings for publication and in plan-
ning the most desirable form for publication: and
Wnereas, The committee has encountered serious ob-
stacles in implementing the project due to a lack of funds:
and
Wuereas, The completion of the project might be more
effectively assumed by the standing agencies responsible for
planning, publishing, and distributing literature in Synod;
namely, the Commission on Church Literature, therefore
be it
Resolved, That the Synod at its 1973 convention thank
the Committee on Publishing Walther's Writings for its plans
and efforts of the past: and be it further
Resolved, That the present committee be dissolved and
the responsibility of its work be assigned to the Commission
on Church Literature of The Lutheran Church — Missouri
Synod. Commission ON CHURCH LITERATURE

To Continue Walther Publications Project
WuerEas, The 1962 synodical convention authorized “the
Board of Governors of Concordia Historical Institute to be
responsible for the publication of Dr. Walther’s works” and
instructed “Concordia Publishing House to print the vol-
ume(s) of this work properly approved by the Board of
Governors of Concordia Historical Institute and the Com-
mission on Church Literature (Proceedings, 1962, Res. 8-14,
p. 143); and
Wuereas. The committee created by the Institute and the
Commission on Church Literature failed to receive the nec-
essary funding for this project: and
Wuereas, This convention of The Lutheran Church —
Missouri Synod may consider the dissolution of the Commit-
tee on Walther’s Writings, therefore be it
Resolved. To petition the New Orleans convention to con~
tinue the Walther Publications project, to fund it adequately
and to insure the Institute's continuing involvement in the
roject.

To Expand Television Ministry
TuerEas, The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod has
been signally blessed with exceptional opportunities to pro-
claim the Gospel via mass communications media; and
WueErEAS, Synod has repeatedly committed itself to the
fullest possible use of the most modern available technology
in bringing the Gospel of Salvation in Jesus Christ to people
wherever they are; and
WuerEaS. The enormous power and impact of television
has mushroomed over the years to the point where this
medium is unchallenged today as one which reaches more
people throughout the world with greater impact than any
other: and
Wuereas. The high quality of the Missouri Synod's ac-
tivities in television over two decades have brought her a
unique and priceless reputation and position which might
never be regained if lost; and
Wuereas, The Synod already has accumulated a very
substantial investment in her television ministry over 22
years through well established programs like This Is the Life
and family specials like “Christmas Is”: therefore be it
Resolved. That the Synod encourage and authorize an
expanded use of television as a mission medium through the
production of 26 episodes annually (instead of the current
17) of a “refreshed” This Is the Life: and be it further
Resolved. That the Synod encourage and authorize its
Television Board and its Board of Directors to give priority
to the continued production of family TV specials like
“Christmas Is”: and be it finally
Resolved. That the Synod express its strong interest in
television as a key ministry in the mission of the church
and ask its Board of Directors to give high priority an
increasing subsidy allocations to this area in keeping with
and parallel to priority given other mission endeavors of the
Synod. Boarp FOR LUTHERAN TELEVISION

To Thank Lutheran Laymen’s League
for Cosponsorship
Wuereas. The international Lutheran Laymen’s League
offered to become cosponsor of the Synod's television min-
istry in order to reinforce the effectiveness and the forward
thrust of this ministry; and
Wuereas. The league continues to offer enthusiastic, gen-
erous support for the TV ministry: therefore be it
Resolved. That the Synod offer its heartfelt thanks to
the LLL for the substantial contribution to the Gospel
proclamation and for its continuing service to Synod in word
and deed. Boarp FOR LUTHERAN TELEVISION
