To Eliminate Editorial Commission
for Official Periodicals

Wuereas, The Lutheran Witness and the Lutheran Wit-
ness Reporter continue to print tendentious and slanted ar-
ticles; news reports, and editorials; and

Wuereas, The editorial staff so far has shown no genuine
sign of repentance for its perverse corruption of the orthodox
objectives of Synod: and

Wuereas, The official publications of Synod have their
editorial policy set by the Editorial Commission for Official
Periodicals, who also control the editors of these official pub-
lications (Handbook, pages 196, 7); and

Wuereas, Existing Bylaws of the Handbook have not ade-
quately served to fulfill the reasonable expectations of mem-
bers of Synod regarding the judgment and work of the Edi-
torial Commission as well as of the editors of the official
periodicals; and

Wuereas, The official publications of Synod have enjoyed
historically the direct attention, advice, and guidance of the
presidium of Synod; therefore be it

Resolved, That the present Bylaws dealing with the Lu-
theran Witness and the Lutheran Witness Reporter (Hand-
book, pages 196—97) be abolished; and be it further

Resolved, That the Lutheran Witness and the Lutheran
Witness Reporter, as well as Der Lutheraner, be placed as
official organs of Synod under the direct responsibility and
supervision of the President and the Vice-Presidents of
Synod for editorial policy as well as for staff appointments,

Whereas, This requires the production of sound and
scholarly materials; therefore be it

Resolved, That The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod
declare itself in favor of appropriate observances of these
anniversaries; and be it further
