The Jews and Freemasons.

Concerning the influence which the Jews and the Freemasons have finally gained over all public affairs in Europe, Dr. Münkel, in his Neues Zeitblatt of October 3 of last year, reports the following:

"A Berlin Freemason has issued a cry of alarm, to which he was driven by the elections of April and May of this year for the Prussian House of Deputies. He reports that in Berlin 217 Jews were chosen as electors, and that in two districts Jews alone were elected. This is a troubling occurrence, since every Jew is by birth a man of progress or a Democrat, who must necessarily work toward the overthrow of princely power, because it stands in the way of the Jews' penetration into the highest offices of state. The Jews would not have achieved such successes had they not been used and put forward by the massively swollen Progressive Party, in order to bring the religious and political foundations of the state to yield.

The threads of the connection between Jews and men of progress are tied in the Freemasons' lodges. For in these lodges progress rules in a frightening manner, as the Berlin elections again prove. The nine men of progress who were elected as deputies with the help of the Jewish electors are one and all Freemasons, and of the 23 Berlin lodges at least three-quarters of the Freemasons voted for them. "Exactly the same relation holds in Breslau, Magdeburg, Stettin, and all the cities where lodges and Freemasons are very widespread, which is why they wrote in their secret writing: Our league is there, where it flourishes, become a power against which no one can do anything, which will triumph over everything and everyone." That is to say, the league will yet in the end bring the free state without a church into the world.

To this league the Jews are welcome co-workers. Even though they have at times been excluded by some lodges, they nevertheless now find admission generally in all the lodges of the world. Only in Berlin, for the king's sake, will they admit no Jews; instead one does it through a back door, by admitting them as brothers as soon as they have been admitted elsewhere. The Jew, however, knows how to help himself even better, drawing profit from a certain peculiar arrangement of Freemasonry. Namely, three Masons are permitted to make someone a Mason, and in doing so to avail themselves of the right to impart the Masonic secrets outside the lodges without the customary ceremonies. The Jews make use of this to draw their fellow believers into the secrets of the order and to erect an order alongside the order, in which bribery and speculative arts do their work. "While no Christian lodge is any longer closed to Jews, there exist Jewish lodges where admission is absolutely denied to every non-Jew. In London, where notoriously the true hearth of the revolution is under Grand Master Palmerston, there exist two Jewish lodges where no Christian ever finds admission, not even being let across the threshold. Thither run together the threads of all the revolutionary elements that are in Christian lodges. Such a Jewish lodge is now at Rome the highest revolutionary tribunal. In Leipzig, at fair-time, there is every time a secret Jewish lodge, which, remarkably, never opens itself to a Christian Mason." Do the lodges work for progress in general, then the Jewish lodges naturally work for Jewish progress; the one makes use of the other, and the shrewdest one skims off the cream for himself. But, crucify him, crucify him! so it resounds from both sides against the Church.

"Oh, would that the All-good One," so the Berlin Freemason concludes, "upon the highly placed
