48 Proceedings of the twenty-seventh convention
Regarding various petitions that had come in from Europe, the following committee report was adopted as a resolution:
The committee elected by the Rev. Synodical Conference to go through the petitions that had come in from Europe takes the liberty of reporting, respectively recommending, the following:
Three letters were addressed to the officers of the Synodical Conference:
1. a letter from the Lutheran congregation in Eger, Bohemia, signed by Pastor Gustav Fischer, which contains not only a petition for physical support but also for later possible ministration with God's Word;
2. a request for support for the Evangelical Church Educational Society of the Province of Westphalia at Schweicheln, district of Herford, signed by Pastor Siebold;
3. a request for support from the institution for the crippled, Johanna-Helenen-Heim at Volmarstein, Westphalia, signed by Pastor Victor.
We recommend to the Rev. Synodical Conference that these requests for help be handed over to the committees for German relief ("Deutschlandhilfe") already in existence, such as the Rev. Synods of Wisconsin and of Missouri have already called into being.
With all respect we sign:
J. G. Gläser. P. Rösener. J. Vojtko.
The Treasury.
The aged treasurer of the Synodical Conference, Mr. H. A. Christiansen, who has managed the treasury since 1879, on account of his eighty-six years sent in his resignation together with the account book and the cash balance of $84.77. The resignation was accepted and the thanks of the Synodical Conference were voted to the long-time treasurer for his faithful and constant services.
The committee which had to audit the treasury, consisting of Messrs. Konrad Schmeißer and Johann Schindehedde, reported that everything was in order.
