                                                             5373.59
                                                           $14192.79

The actual deficit for the last fiscal year is $5,609.92, as will be seen
from the reported receipts and disbursements. This is due, in your Treas-
urer's humble opinion, to the increased cost of living as well as the growth
of our Mission, with which our donors have not kept pace. We must have
$90,000 for the following year, and should have $100,000, judging from
present conditions. This calls for a live interest in Negro Mission work
by all our Lutherans.
The Endowment Fund referred to by our Field Secretary is perhaps
the best method of financing work of this magnitude; but even such fund
should be increased from time to time in order to keep pace with the in-
creased demand of this growing mission.
Your Treasurer sincerely and respectfully petitions the honorable of-
ficers and delegates of Synodical Conference on behalf of the laborers in
the Negro Mission, and the many helpless negroes who continually call
to us for help, to devise ways and means to command a greater interest
in our work, and provide for more liberal support financially.
Respectfully submitted,
EWALD SCHUETTNER, Treasurer.
