Amen.

...creep in there, or that even a bitter root spring up, to the ruin of
many. Let us hold fast and unmoved to the pure and clear Word of our
God, and to the good confession of our Church founded upon it, and let
us willingly and joyfully profess and bear witness to it as before, in
doctrine and practice, in life and conduct, in cross and suffering.
Let us, who are angels of the Lord of Hosts, helpers of the Holy Spirit,
and ambassadors in Christ's stead, the mouth and hand of God to
mankind in the giving of the holy Gospel and the holy Sacraments — let
us, who bear so glorious an office, full of overflowing clarity, an office
that makes the righteous out of sinners, the blessed out of the cursed,
citizens with the saints out of the cast-off and banished, and members
of God's household, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ — let us
faithfully discharge this office as faithful shepherds toward our flocks
and, in self-denying love and holy zeal for the souls of our parishioners,
follow after the chief Shepherd and Bishop of our souls. Let us, with
and according to God's Word and in a churchly, sound manner, publicly
and individually teach, restrain, rebuke, comfort, admonish, warn,
threaten, and so forth, exactly as need requires, and in doing so at the
same time diligently watch and pray against spiritual pride, love of
power, wrathfulness, impatience, despondency, anxiety over livelihood,
fear of man, and laziness within ourselves — and also, outwardly, adorn
the pure doctrine of God our Savior with a godly walk, this silent
preaching, this quietly shining testimony.
In sum: let us prove ourselves, in doctrine, life, and cross, faithful
servants and followers of the Lord Christ and his holy apostles, so that
each of us, when his hour comes, may with a good conscience say along
with holy Paul: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I
have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that
day — and not to me only, but to all who have loved his appearing.
Amen.
