THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OFFICE
OF THE PUBLIC MINISTRY
A For we do not preach ourselves. but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as
your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God. who said. “Let tight shine out of
darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (2 Cor. 4:5-6)
Do not neglect your gift. which was given you through a prophetic message when
the body of eiders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters: give
yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life
and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both
yourself and your hearers. (1 Tim. 4:14-16)
Now if the ministry that brought death. which was engraved in letters on stone,

Moses hecause of its glory, fading though it was, will not the ministry of the
Spirit be even more glorious? (2 Cor. :7-x)

pursuit of opportunities for study and growth and for increase in the
grace to edify his fellow Christians. by serving all people in their need. and
by witnessing to all as a person of good reputation:
to accept without reservation the Scripture of the Old and New
Testaments as the written Word of God and the only rule and norm of
faith and practice:
to accept the Ecumenical Creeds and all the Symbolical Books of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church contained in the Book of Concord as a true
and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God:
to manifest an appreciation for and to have a comprehensive understand-
ing of the theology of the Bible and the skill to interpret Holy Scripture on
