Walter L. Rosin

For about 30 vears it has been my privilege
to serve the Lord and our beloved Synod in
various capacities. In each case I have not
sought a position but have responded to what I
considered was a call from Him. If elected as
Secretary. I would view that election in the
same manner.

The future of the Synod is in the hands of
our Lord, and I would hope and pray that it will
always be open to His leading in doctrine, in
missions, and in all areas of ministry for
which He provides the opportunities.

TREASURER

1 layperson to be elected (only one
name is to be submitted by the Synod’s
Board of Directors, Bylaw 2.161. Other
nominations may be made from the floor.)

Norman D. Sell, 44, St. Louis, MO:
Ascension (MO); Treasurer, LCMS. S. Treas. 6;
Asst. Treas. 2; Planning & Budget 1. C. Stewp.
Chm.; Fin. Com. O. State Budg. Dir.; Univ.
Bus. Man.; Fin. V.P.

Norman D. Sell

The renewed desire of many in our Synod
to move forward in missions has been a great
joy. My biggest disappointment is the missed

opportunities due to lack of adequate finances.
The Synod, including its Districts and Col-
leges, need to restructure for more effective
service to congregations and people. Toomany
resources are spent in meetings which don't
result in action and mission endeavors. In
order to serve a diverse fellowship of believers
we must not assume a right to support, but
must promote and communicate programs
worthy of involvement. Conventions must be
shortened and less frequent; fellowship oppor-
tunities should be increased. The programs of
mission, education, and service supported and
sponsored by the LCMS can be a mighty
influence on people throughout our world.
