Pp We are gathered here in the sight of God and of his Church that this man and
this woman may be joined together in holy marriage. This is an honorable estate,
which God himself has instituted and blessed, and by which he gives us a picture
of the vers communion of Christ and his bride, the Church. God has both
established and sanctified marriage and has promised to bless therein ail who love
and trust in him and who seek to give him their faithful worship and service. for
the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The union of husband and wife in heart, body, and mind is intended by God for
their mutual joy. for the help and comfort given one another in prosperity and
adversity, and, when it is God's will, for the procreation of children and their
nurture in the knowledge and love of the Lord. Therefore marriage is not to be
entered into inadvisedly or lightly, but reverentls, deliberately, and in accordance
with the purposes for “hich it Was instituted by God.

REINSTATEMENT

P Beloved in Christ, because __=-= __ , having been under excommunication for
a time, has now by the grace of God given evidence of repentance to the Church, I
joyfully announce that __*» <"___ excommunication is removed and that _:*
is restored to Christian fellowship in this congregation.

Let us pray.

We thank vou, Father, that you have heard us. moving the heart of _==: __ to
repent. Comfort and be with ~~: _ in all trials and temptations that
—~s— may continue steadfast in faith and godliness throughout —* ="
earthly life. Keep us from the pride of thinking that we cannot fall, but cause us to
trust solely in the strength vou give in Jesus Christ.

Amen

P The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a
helper suitable for him.’* Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the
beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see
what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that
was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and
all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord
God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep: and while he was sleeping, he took
one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made
a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the
man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: she shall
be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will
leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one
flesh. (Gen. 2:15-24)

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your husbands
as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the
church, his body. of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so
also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your
wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy.
cleansing her by the washing with water through the word. and to present her to
himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy
and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own
bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own
body. but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church—for we are
memhers of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be
united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound
mystery—but f am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you
also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
(Eph. $:21-33)

~[Have you not] read.” he replied. “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them
male and female.’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother
and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer
two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together. let man not separate.”
tMau. 19:44)

S. An address may follow. A hymn may he sung.

4. If the bride and bridegroom have been seated for an address and/or a hymn,
they now stand. The pastor avks the bridegroam:

po _.. will you have this woman to be 5 our wife, to live with her in holy
marriage according to the Word of God? Will sou love her, comfort her. honor her.
