P But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, O Jacob, he who
formed you, O Israel: “Fear not. for I have redeemed you: I have called you by
name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and
when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk
through the fire. you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I
am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” (Is. 43:1-3a)

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us all in our troubles, so
that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have
received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives,
so also through Christ our comfort overflows. (2 Cor. 1:3-5)

Some men brought to him a paralytic. lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their
faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” At this,
some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!~
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said. “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in
your hearts? Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven. or to say, ‘Get up
and walk? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on
earth to forgive sins . . .“ Then he said to the paralytic. “Get up, take your mat
and go home.” And the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this,
they were filled with awe; and they praised God. who had given such authority
to men. ( Matt. 9:2-&)

9 The table 1s prepared and the OF FERTORY w spoken in unison
Create in me a clean heart, O God. and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me
not away trom sour presence. and take not sour Hols Spirit from me. Restore

to me the jos of your salvation. and uphold me with sour free spint. Amen

“If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will
come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23)
