LAYPERSONs (Seward County)
I am grateful for the formation provided by Concordia—
Nebraska in my development as a person and professional. I
am also confident of the role that this university must and will
play in providing leadership in the Church as it proclaims the
Risen Christ to a post-modern world. Aware of the complexities of providing education in a complex age, I understand
the urgency of working cooperatively with all agencies of
the Synod to maximize personnel and financial resources. I
welcome the challenge of working with the administration
to provide the very best Christian university necessary and
possible.

My personal life mission statement
is to communicate the joys and blessings of firstfruits giving
in a way that conveys the rich spiritual blessings that come
from giving, transforming lives and giving glory to God. Too
often giving is viewed as a negative. My prayer for our Synod
is to find a way to turn this around. Imagine what would happen if our members started giving for the pure joy of it. Not
because our coffers would then be full (thought they would),
but because firstfruits giving changes our lives.

I am excited by the opportunity to continue serving on the
Board of Regents for Concordia University Nebraska. God has
used Concordia as both a place of fellowship to bind people
to Him and to each other and as a place of sending to spread
His people and the Gospel throughout the world. My goal as a
regent would be to help Concordia maintain academic excellence while expanding to reach new groups of students with a
Christ-centered education.
Since graduating from Concordia University Nebraska back in
1980, God has allowed me to be a part of a great community
in Lutheran education. My passion for ministry was formed
in the four years I attended Concordia. The relationships I
formed with professors and fellow classmates still guide me
today. As a regent, I would have the responsibility to uphold
a mission that equips men and women for lives of learning,
service, and leadership in the church and world. I support the
university’s vision and would use my gifts and experiences in
helping the administration and faculty reach this destination.

As a member of the Board of
Regents, Concordia University Nebraska, I will apply my
experience as a lifelong member of LCMS, my knowledge as
a self-employed business owner, and my contribution to community organizations. Calling upon my past history, I will
participate in this governing body to prepare for the challenges
of the future—the diversity of population and the challenges
