grateful hearts and willing hands to serve. As Christians,
with any endeavor, we ask, “How does this glorify God and
point to Christ as Savior of the world?” Concordia University
System equips individuals who carry out a response to this
question and live out this faith in all walks of life. Stewardship
of this valuable source of workers for our church and leaders
in the Kingdom is important for our Synod. I offer my hands
to continued service on the Board for University Education to
carry out this task.

Our Synod is currently struggling with how best to share
Christ with an America that has become increasingly multireligious and secular. We need to tap the vast array of talents
God has given the members of our church in order to actively
engage the world around us, and to share with it the timeless
truths of Holy Scripture in new and creative ways, including participation in interfaith dialogues. Thus more of the lost,
the hurting, and the broken will have the opportunity to hear
of Christ, come to know Christ’s love, and trust Him as their
Savior from sin.

COMMISSION ON THEOLOGY
AND CHURCH RELATIONS

God’s name is kept holy when His Word is taught in its
truth and purity, and we, as His children, also lead holy lives
according to it. His Kingdom comes when our heavenly Father
gives us His Holy Spirit, so that by His grace we believe His
Holy Word and lead godly lives. To those ends may God use
the Commission on Theology and Church Relations as He
continues to answer His people in the LCMS who are praying
that His name be hallowed and His Kingdom come.

1 ordained minister (parish pastor), 1 commissioned minister (parish teacher), 1 layperson to be elected

Qualifications: The Commission on Theology and Church
Relations is responsible for assisting the President of the
Synod, at his request, in fostering internal unity in the Synod
and in relating to other church bodies. The Commission is
also responsible for providing guidance to the Synod in matters of theology and church relations. Nominees for election
to the Commission on Theology and Church Relations should
therefore be well grounded in their knowledge of and commitment to the Holy Scriptures and Lutheran Confessions
and the doctrinal position of the Synod. They should have a
good understanding of the internal workings of The Lutheran
Church—Missouri Synod. Above all, they should be motivated by a love for the Lord Jesus Christ which shows itself
in concern for the pure teaching of the Gospel and the right
administration of the sacraments and for God-pleasing relationships with all members of the Body of Christ. Must be
available for quarterly meetings of three days each.

“God’s Word is our great heritage, And shall be ours forever” (LSB 582). This simple hymn speaks of The Lutheran
Church—Missouri Synod’s sola Scriptura–centered approach
to the matters of faith and life among Christian brethren. The
CTCR helps guide the Synod in its faith and practice, and I
would consider it a great honor to serve Christ and His Church
in this manner if so chosen by my brethren.
