Qualifications: Board of Regents of the colleges, universities,
and seminaries are responsible for the educational programs
of the institution. They assure themselves that the work of the
institution is carried on effectively and managed in a businesslike manner within an annually established budget. They
are also responsible for the general welfare of faculty, staff,
and students. Board members should be acquainted with
current trends in education and should have a strong commitment to Christian education at all levels, with special interest
in the objectives of preparing church workers. It is desirable
to have had experience on a governing board of an elementary or secondary school, or on the board of regents or faculty
of a college or university. Experience in finance, personnel,
general corporate administration, corporate planning, or facility management is always helpful. The time requirements for
meetings vary with the situation.

to be elected

For over 100 years the Church Extension Fund concept has
been a gift to our church. Providing funds and services in
innovative ways blesses the LCMS and its workers. The
LCEF has always met the challenges of history. The year 2010
and beyond represents great challenges and great opportunities. If elected, it would be with great humility and honor that
I would “support the church in fulfilling its mission of sharing
the Gospel of Jesus Christ by being a Christ-centered servant
partner of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, ensuring
that funds and services are available now and in the future.”

Throughout the history of the Synod, we have made strong
investments in education. We continue to move forward by
preparing the best ministry professionals. The strength of
our program is that we do not compromise Scripture or the
Confessions, but follow the example of Dr. Martin Luther,
who recognized the need to be on the cutting edge of making
the good news of salvation relevant to the people of his time.
I am honored to share in this vision and commitment of holding our traditions and truth of Scripture, while bringing Christ
to a dying world.

I will continue to support the vision of the LCMS and work
toward making LCEF the lender of choice for all entities,
the preferred partner of congregations, schools, and agencies seeking to advance their mission and ministry through
strategic facility and financial planning. I will strive to make
LCEF the preferred investment alternative for low-risk, market-based investments for all LCMS members, individuals,
and entities in support of the work of the LCMS. I will support
the growth of an LCEF ministry that exemplifies and encourages spiritually responsible stewardship, meeting the highest
possible standards for commitment, integrity, service, and
efficiency.
