In a time when biblical truth is
being twisted, a sound and Christcentered theological training
is imperative. As the Scripture
reminds us to be “prepared and give an account,” it is my
prayer that the seminary will graduate pastors who not only
have the knowledge of the Bible but also have a humble
heart to be servants of the Gospel. Being an immigrant from
Ethiopia, the Lord has enabled me to finish medical school in
Michigan and serve Him in various capacities. I hope these
experiences will help me as a member of Board of Regents for
the seminary, if I were to be selected.
I believe the Synod should continue as the bedrock of confessional Lutheranism in North America. To this end, she should
concentrate on fellowship within the teaching of the Word,
administration of the Sacraments, and orthodox doctrine.
Additionally, the Synod should be active in Christian education—at all levels—as well as the propagation of ministries of
many within its midst and to its neighbors around the world.
To these ends, no institutions are more fundamental than the
seminaries of the Synod. The lifeblood of the denomination
are her faithful pastors; the arms and legs, its laity; and Christ,
of course, the Head.

I have always been willing to serve, to the best of my Godgiven abilities, God and His Church in whatever opportunities
that are opened before me. Helping to maintain such a vital
institution to our Synod and to the Church would be a great
responsibility and challenge, one in which I would continually seek the Lord’s guidance and strength through prayer and
His Word.
The founders of what would
become the Concordia Theological Seminary believed that
it was necessary to provide for the spiritual needs of settlers
on the American frontier. It is vital for each generation to
remain committed to the continued success of this seminary
so that spiritual needs are ministered to now and in the future.
The most important reason for our seminaries to exist is to
train pastors to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Initiatives
must be sustainable within the context of resources available.
Evaluation of financial decisions and stewardship practices
will be central to the board’s role.

Listen, listen, God is calling
through the Word inviting, offering
forgiveness, comfort, and joy. Jesus
gave His mandate: Share the good
news that He came to save us and set us free. Let none be forgotten throughout the world. In the triune name of God go and
baptize. Help us to be faithful, standing steadfast, walking in
Your precepts, led by Your Word. Listen, listen, God is calling through the Word inviting, offering forgiveness, comfort,
and joy (LSB 833).
