we must avoid the temptations of the devil, the world, and our
own flesh to create a “popular” and “contemporary” church
body. Faithfully teaching and confessing the doctrine of the
blessed apostles, the Church and the world will be blessed!

The vision of the Florida-Georgia
District is clear and compelling: “Every congregation is a
church in mission, and every member is a missionary, with
all of us working together under the Lordship of Jesus Christ,
empowered by His Gospel to share His love.” I share this missionary vision for my district, for the congregation I serve, and
the Synod I love. The vision is the fruit of Christ’s missionary imperative out of which the Ablaze! movement also was
conceived. If elected, this vision will guide my participation
in fiscally responsible, outcome-focused governance on the
Board for Mission Services.
As we look to the future, our love of Jesus Christ and the Holy
Spirit inspire us to remain true to God’s Word as revealed
in the Holy Scriptures. May we continue to be a light to the
world and recruit our peoples to commit to missions at this
time of economic and spiritual need.

The Great Commission, Matthew 28:18–20, comes with a
great sense of encouragement and power. “All authority” has
been given to Jesus. On the foundation of His sacrifice and
victory we make disciples as He commands. Windows of
opportunity to bring this message to all nations continue to
open and close. We must watch and pray, seeking where and
how the Holy Spirit is opening doors of opportunity. To paraphrase Jesus’ words from John 9: “We must work the works
of Him who sent Me (and sends us), while it is day, because
night is coming when no man can work.”
LAYPERSONs
I see the LCMS continuing outreach work with districts and
partner churches, sharing the Gospel with the lost throughout the world; identifying and training local leaders here and
abroad; working with congregations to plant new churches;
encouraging us, as individuals, to share our faith with those
people with whom we come in contact. While serving as
LWML Vice-President of Gospel Outreach, I had the opportunity to see how our church’s mission efforts have impacted
the lives of the people who have received the Good News of
Christ’s love and salvation by their personal witness. To God
be the glory!

The LCMS must continue to remain
steadfast in and faithful to its scriptural and confessional foundation.
As a Synod we need to maintain our
focus on proclaiming the Gospel of
the forgiveness of sins to the whole world. At the same time
