In addition to 21 years retail business management and 25
years university academic experience, the following would
form the context for my service: (1) Maintaining the tradition
of publishing works of benefit to members of our Synod and
Christendom at large; (2) Increasing the sophistication, quality, and level of scholarship; (3) Expanding the range of topics
of works considered for publication; and (4) Managing costs
and revenues to maintain margins that will provide financial
stability and allow for future growth.

For years I’ve heard people say that the LCMS is dying. My
hope and prayer for our future is that we are not dying, but
that we are constantly growing in hope and vigor based on our
faith in Christ and our witness to His Gospel. I desire to see us
characterized by love—for each other, for fellow Christians,
and for the world—so that John 13:35 would be true for the
LCMS. “By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The LCMS—Who We Are: Let us
continue to strengthen, promote, and communicate, as we profess on our Web site, the very beliefs that set us apart from the
world (believing, reaching out, proclaiming), while deliberately considering the impact and consequences of being with
the world. In doing so, let’s put a greater focus on educating
our children and youth in spiritual warfare, that they may be
better prepared to face the “roaring lion.”
For over 140 years, by God’s grace,
Concordia Publishing House has
provided resources to strengthen the faith of the people of our
Synod and to equip them to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to
people not yet in the church. In every age, the clear message
of God’s Word is to be proclaimed in and outside the church.
CPH must continue to provide trustworthy resources that people can use, confident that these resources are faithful to the
Word of God and its expression in the Confessions of the
Lutheran Church. To this end I will serve if elected.

It has been my pleasure to serve for six years on the Board of
Directors at Concordia Publishing House. During that time
we have responded to the Church’s growing interest in technology and electronically delivered products and services.
While we still cherish and produce the printed word, these are
exciting times as CPH develops and publishes cutting-edge
resources for the Church.
It is a great honor to be nominated. The current environment
is indeed challenging, requiring all of our efforts and prayers.
