Loving Jesus and following Him leave the LCMS no choice—
we are to “seek and save the lost.” Such a Mission drives
us around the globe but also to each family living right next
door. Today, those outside our church walls have little understanding of what transpires within, while those of us inside
often dismiss the needs of the outsiders. We must become
more fully intentional in all our efforts to become outwardly
focused. Unfortunately, the Church is no longer crucial to the
lives of society’s majority. This makes sharing the Gospel of
Jesus critical, “while the souls of men are dying.”
It is my hope, if it is God’s will,
that I serve on this board. I am able
to provide value in the following way: By empowering and
equipping Synod staff to effectively assist the varied missions and ministries of our districts and congregations, so that
through the power of the Holy Spirit, they are able to enrich
the faith lives of all our parishioners, as well as to reach out
with God’s love and the saving message of the Gospel to those
unfamiliar with our Lord’s amazing grace.

2 ordained ministers, 2 laypersons to be elected
Qualifications: The Board for Mission Services is responsible to the Synod for the development and interpretation
of a challenging global mission vision. It is further responsible for developing and monitoring the mission policies of
the Synod. It approves personnel for over 30 mission fields
and partner churches affiliated with the Synod and conducts studies and approves plans for entering new fields.
Recognizing the United States as a world mission field, it provides support services to districts — especially in the area
of cross cultural ministry. Board members should be able
to see the “big picture,” both nationally and internationally,
should be acquainted with U.S. demographics and world
trends, and should have a better than average understanding
of and/or willingness to become knowledgeable in missiology for today’s world. Experience on district mission boards
is desirable, particularly for the clergy and teacher members.
International business experience, law, finance, personnel,
general administration, and corporate planning is helpful.
Must be available for three quarterly meetings of two days
each. Also, must be available for an international trip to visit
mission fields and partner churches lasting for a period of 12
to 14 days once every three years.
ORDAINED MINISTERS
“I am the Lord’s servant!” Mary said. And with that she carried “the gospel” for nine months and delivered Him to the
world. And yet it was God Himself who planted the seed, carried, and delivered the Savior to the world. There is no greater
privilege than to be God’s servants, engaged in planting, carrying, and delivering the Savior to people who would die
eternally without Him. It is God’s mission to save all people.
Let us engage all God’s people in knowing the mission, praying for the mission, and financially supporting the mission. I
am the Lord’s servant. Amen.

Mission is the Lord’s work. His
authority is behind it. Mission is pleasing to God because
through it Christ establishes His Church and brings His kingdom. The Gospel is the mission of the Church. All good fruits
grow from the Gospel. So many people in the United States
and the world have not heard the Gospel. Our Synod follows
the Lord by continuing to call, send, and support missionaries
here and abroad. We can grow as a Synod in our efforts by utilizing creative partnerships with our congregations, circuits,
districts, and partner churches throughout the world.
