I take great joy in serving the Lord and His Church. Our
Synod is at a crossroads with a tremendous opportunity to
reach out, whether to neighbors, cohorts at work, or immigrant
ethnic groups. The challenge is to make use of opportunity while remaining faithful to Holy Scripture and the
Confessions. I have been involved locally for many years in
outreach and evangelism. I have chaired our district’s missions committee. My inner-city congregation is ethnically
diverse, and while not always an easy task, we are one in faith,
spirit, and working together. This background gives me much
to offer our Synod.

Having served on the BHE
Committee for Pastoral Education
(12 years) and more recently on
the Board for Pastoral Education (6
years), I believe I bring to this board a sense of continuity with
the past and an understanding of the exciting challenges faced
by our seminaries in the future. I am deeply committed to the
excellence, theological quality, and faithfulness of both seminaries. I am eager to continue to serve and will do my best,
under God’s blessing, to insure that our Synod continues to
receive faithful pastors to serve God’s people, to His glory and
their eternal welfare.

God has blessed this Synod and
all who work so willingly to further His mission. I have been
privileged to serve on this board previously in an advisory
capacity as LWML President and as an elected member for the
past six years. I have witnessed firsthand His plan for furthering His mission. Our task remains to use resources carefully,
raise awareness for missions, and proclaim the Gospel
throughout the world. I hope that the LCMS will continue to
maximize and appreciate the abundance of gifts God has given
to His church and people. I would be honored to continue to
serve.

God continues to give our LCMS
opportunities to touch the world with His gracious message!
While commitment to our biblical and confessional principles
must never change, we must pray for discernment to apply
those principles in the multiple opportunities before us! I pray
for a future LCMS focus that reaches “the lost” with outreach ministries, revitalizes local congregations for renewal
in ministry, assists small town and rural congregations in their
ministries, encourages and strengthens our seminaries in their
vital task for pastoral formation, blesses ministries with useful
foundational stewardship principles, and uses the restructuring
process to sharpen focus and effectiveness.
