I am a lifelong Lutheran with a heritage of pastors, missionaries, and teachers. I have served as a director of Christian
education out of Christ College/Concordia University for 15
years. My passion is ministry to children, youth, and young
adults. I believe that the Concordia System plays a huge part
in the cultivation of up-and-coming church workers, and I am
thrilled to be considered to be part of the Board of Regents for
Concordia University, Irvine. Concordia has always held a
special place in my heart, and I will do my best to serve them
well.

LAYPERSONs
In this critical time of increasing secularism and distorted,
diabolical spiritual direction, Christian universities are desperately needed. I, as an outgrowth of the LCMS educational
system (elementary, secondary, undergraduate, and graduate schools), and as a Lutheran high school teacher, coach,
and administrator over a period of 39 years, believe we must
remain focused on the mission: “Lives Transformed through
Christ, In Time … for Eternity!” In our present economic situation, difficult choices need to be made. The challenge is
to address change without changing who we are … universities that have opportunity to yield redeemed servants of Christ
(Ephesians 6:6).

My entire adult life has been dedicated to higher education as a professor and university administrator. My service
as a Board of Regents member and on the Board for Higher
Education and Board for University Education attest to my
strong belief that a quality education for Lutheran lay leaders and professional church workers is critical to the future
of our Synod. Along with academic quality, sound financial
management will be essential if our colleges/universities in
the Concordia University System are to carry out the Great
Commission. If it is God’s will that I am elected, I will be
delighted to serve.
The purpose of The Lutheran
Church—Missouri Synod is to reach lost souls with the saving truth of Jesus Christ while at the same time nurturing the
faith of the saved. Our Concordia universities have traditionally focused on training men and women for ministry in
the church and the world. I believe the Concordia University
System should continue to focus on training servants for the
church, while also serving as faith-based academic institutions
of excellence where the Christian faith is shared with all who
study there.
