I believe in the inerrant teachings of Scripture and accept
Luther’s catechism as an accurate portrayal of Scripture. The
LCMS should defend the purity of the Gospel while always
striving to reach a world of lost souls. I would advocate using
more resources for saving sinners and helping the poor. I like
tradition (“pages 5 and 15”) but not at the expense of reaching the lost. I would push for action. I think the LCMS isolates
itself too much from the rest of our Lord’s church and should
work with others in the greater church (within reason) to save
souls.

Our beloved church body has been blessed through dedicated
leaders and faithful laypeople. To accomplish our mission
in the future, these human resources are vital. Professional
workers and willing volunteers will need to be identified,
encouraged, trained, and empowered at all levels to join in our
God-given ministry. Personally, I have been blessed by the
opportunities to serve and God-willing, will continue to serve,
insuring that all things under our jurisdiction are done properly
and in order, that our properties provide the necessary support
to our mission and that we remain financially responsible.
The Board of Directors of The
Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is a creature of the
Kingdom of the Left Hand, which deals with the secular affairs of the Synod so that the ecclesiastical work of the
church may be conducted most effectively. The board benefits
from having members with diverse backgrounds and experiences. My education as an engineer, and my qualifications as a
registered professional engineer, are unique on the board. My
experience as a litigation attorney further aids me in dealing
with many of the issues that confront the board.

The Synod is an association of
Lutheran congregations bound together in doctrine to preach,
teach, and reach to a world that has lost its moral compass.
In such an environment the Synod and its districts must be
responsive to provide only needed services and activities on
behalf of the congregations. The Board of Directors is responsible for the business, property, and legal affairs of the Synod.
As such, it must provide guidance in those areas so that they
are performed in the most efficient and cost-effective manner
in an era of decreasing receipts.

Our Synod’s doctrine and practice are a true expression of
God’s plan for the forgiveness of our sins, hope for our future,
and the assurance of our eternal salvation. The hope this message gives needs to be shared. We need to emphasize getting
the message out. God will bless the faithful efforts of His servants to share His love with others. God has blessed many in
our midst with various gifts. Let all share them to His glory.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod must fashion its
future on the foundation of our strong scriptural and doctrinal
heritage anchored in the means of grace. LCMS congregations
