It has been my privilege to serve on the Fort Wayne Board
of Regents for the past six years. I would be honored to serve
again and support the Synod’s mission and ministry by helping CTS fulfill its mission, which is “to form servants of Jesus
Christ who teach the faithful, reach the lost, and care for all.”
After all, the Great Commission is the primary reason the
Synod and the seminary exists.
I support maintaining two seminaries in our Synod, and I
believe that excellent seminaries are extremely important to
the church. Preaching and teaching the Word of God and ministering to God’s people in their needs with a faithful Word
and Sacrament ministry are critical to each congregation and
to the entire Synod. To that end, well-educated, trained, and
faithful pastors are critical.

The LCMS is called by Christ to be faithful to His Word and
reach out to the lost with the specific God-given treasures
entrusted to us. As a second-career graduate of both LCMS
seminaries, I believe that called church workers must receive
the highest quality training in the Scriptures and Lutheran
Confessions and be given opportunities to integrate the
classroom with the congregation, while cultivating an everdeepening appreciation for Christ’s treasures gifted to the
Synod—treasures we should not ignore but celebrate as we
daily rediscover how the Word informs, directs, and convicts
the Church to joyfully witness under the cross.
Our seminaries are integral to the spiritual health and wellbeing of the LCMS. Leadership in Gospel proclamation and
loving service is vital in our dramatically changed and changing world. I understand the responsibility of serving on a
seminary Board of Regents. Board trainings and strategic
planning have focused on how best to support our seminaries
in forming church workers who are grounded in Scripture and
intentional about “loving the people.” I hope to continue with
fellow board members in encouraging Concordia Theological
Seminary to move forward positively and with renewed
energy and fresh insights for mission and ministry.
