use my experience (educator, parish pastor, and administrator
responsible for 100 people and annual budgets of over $1 million) to serve my Lord and the Synod. The Reformation and
Lutheran Confessions provide a wonderful theology and an
excellent basis for outreach and church governance. I am committed to fiscal responsibility and strong support for missions
and our Lutheran educational institutions. I am also committed
to faithfulness to Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions and
to peace and Christian love in the church. May the Holy Spirit
guide and empower us.

By God’s grace I have been blessed with many experiences
and opportunities to serve. The United States Marine Corps
designated me an Infantry Officer (Captain). A multinational,
billion dollar marketing research firm employed me as Senior
Vice-President and General Counsel (responsible for management, litigation, intellectual property, and international
law). I have served on the Board of Directors of several foreign, domestic, and not-for-profit entities, including chairman
of our congregation and a national public interest law firm.
Retirement has allowed me to focus on serving the Kingdom.
It would truly be a blessing to join the LCMS Board of
Directors.
I have experienced the breadth and
richness of the LCMS. Growing
up in the Midwest, serving as a vicar and a pastor of innercity Detroit and Chicago, rural Wyoming, east coast suburbia,
small town southern Illinois, and Phoenix churches; I have
experienced many ministry settings. I have served on the Blue
Ribbon Task Force for Synod Structure and Governance from
its inception, and the Board of Directors since 2008. It is our
partnership in Christ’s Gospel to reach souls for eternity that
moves me. If again entrusted with this responsibility, I will
serve to the best of my ability.

I appreciate every opportunity to
use my gifts to serve the Lord. I
have served in LCMS congregations for over 37 years, often
using my finance and banking education and training. A
Certified Financial Planner, I have served as head of operations for a multistate $4 billion bank holding company for the
past 17 years. I would be humbled by the opportunity to use
my professional skills to serve as a steward of the Synod’s
resources, and I would ask God’s blessing on our efforts to
reach out to the mission field as well as reach in to the LCMS
faithful.

The LCMS is my grandfather’s church. My grandfather
Wismar served as a devoted pastor and professor in a number of settings; my other grandfather just served as a dedicated
layman in one congregation all of his life. The LCMS is also
my grandchildren’s church. All 12 of them are members of
LCMS congregations. Honoring the esteem with which my
parents and previous generations held the Synod and shaping
a future for it through continuing national service so that children and grandchildren can joyfully share in that faithful work
to the glory of God is my reason to stand for election.
