unserer Gegner so monströs dargestellt würde.

Bekenntnißschriften entkräften will.
No. 7.

...come to know and cannot attain by any acuity, has given." (Cap. 6, sect. 2, quaest. 2, fol. 1221.) —
So we hope, then, that with this brief exposition the question, whether our church teaches consubstantiation or impanation, is settled for those who are honestly concerned with the truth. As for wishing to silence those accusers for whom their own will is their only reason (pro ratione voluntas), that would be just as foolish and futile an undertaking as trying to compel an echo to silence by shouting ever louder. We are, moreover, firmly convinced that many a one who still carries within himself a secret dread of the Lutheran, that is, the biblical, doctrine of the Holy Supper would gladly embrace this doctrine if he came to know it according to its true content, and if it were not so monstrously misrepresented to him through the unscrupulous distortions of our opponents. For whoever believes with his heart that Holy Scripture is God's Word, and that Christ is God and man in one person, how should he not also believe that the word "This is my body!" is truth, and that the God-man, who gives Himself so wholly to sinners, also wills and is able to impart to us His humanity, taken up into the Godhead?

The Church Informatorium.
The Buffalo Synod has, in this its organ, for some years now labored to gloss over its hostile stance by charging us with flagrant injustices. To go into this charge further than has already been done would not befit any private individual, even were there still room for it. It might, however, be fitting for someone to point out how excellently our accuser, through her conduct — but above all through her persistence in error — again and again justifies those whom she makes it a matter of conscience to have departed from her. The writer of this is aware that he offers only a small sample when he brings to light the false interpretation by which the Informatorium seeks to invalidate a passage from our confessional writings.
Our opponent has indeed drawn from a piece of wood that otherwise has a good smell the smoke which, in the issue of that paper in question, is meant to serve to render the truth unrecognizable; but that cannot hinder us from following the footprints with which St. Paul, in Gal. 2:4–6, marks out the narrow way.
In No. 7, Year 5 of the Informatorium we read the following:
"Let it be noted here in passing how false and confusing this passage" (the Apology on the seventh article of the Augsburg Confession: "But the Church is
