Diese letztere Jahreszahl ist falsch. In allen Sammlungen, mit Ausnahme
der Wittenbergischen, ebenso Jen. II. in der Vorrede und VII., 395,

300 A Contribution to the Improvement of the Editions of Luther's Works.

there is inserted the writing "Deliberation and Instruction Concerning the Monasteries and
All Spiritual Vows," Vol. 28, pp. 1–27.

The "Exposition of the Gospel of Matthew 16, for the Day of St. Peter and Paul,"
a part of the "Sermon Preached at Leipzig in the Castle," Vol. 15,
pp. 398–403, is printed once more in Vol. 65, pp. 260–274.

The short exposition of the Gospel "for the Day of St. Michael," Vol. 15, p. 463,
appears once more in Vol. 64, p. 261.

The separate printing of the writing "The Ten Commandments of God, with a
Short Exposition of Their Fulfillment and Transgression," Vol. 36, pp. 145–154,
would not have been necessary, for the whole section p. 148, "Whoever in his
adversity resorts to sorcery," etc., down to p. 153, "But all the Ten Commandments
command this," is fully and word for word contained in the writing
"A Short Form of the Ten Commandments, of the Creed, and of the Lord's Prayer,"
Vol. 22, pp. 7–14. Of the two oldest editions of Luther's writings,
the Wittenberg and the Jena, only the latter contains it.

The blessing etc., Vol. 18, p. 316, is taken from the little book on marriage, Vol. 23,
p. 211.

The prayer, Vol. 18, p. 317, from the same, Vol. 23, p. 213.

The writing Vol. 24, pp. 380–387, "The Bull of the Ecclesiast at
Wittenberg Against the Popish Bishops," etc., is a part of the writing
"Against the Falsely So-Called Spiritual Estate of the Pope and of the Bishops,"
Vol. 28, p. 141ff., namely the section Vol. 28, pp. 178–183.

The passage Vol. 41, p. 332, "This Prophet Jonah," etc., down to
p. 333, line 8 from the bottom, is printed once more in Vol. 63, pp. 80 and 81,
with the exception of 6 lines on p. 333, "This I say because," etc.,
down to "have surrendered."

Vol. 42, pp. 12–13, down to "shall get better," is printed once more in Vol. 63, p. 84.

The fragment which is inserted in Vol. 47, p. 78ff., is another
version of the sermon "Copy of an Excerpt from a Sermon," etc.,
Vol. 64, p. 313ff. On the time of its composition, compare Vol. 61, p. 419.

The "Preface to Caspar Adler's, or Aquila's, Sermon on Almsgiving,
1533," Vol. 63, pp. 323–326, is, down to the last paragraph, printed once
more in Vol. 64, pp. 262–265, under the title "Admonition, Warning, and
Reminder Concerning the Despising of the Divine Word. 1522."
This latter date is incorrect — so in all the collections, with the exception
of the Wittenberg one; likewise Jena II, in the preface, and VII, 395;
Altenburg II, 1, and VI, 122; Leipzig XXII, Appendix 109, and XXII, Appendix
156; Walch X, 255, and XIV, 309.

The "Letter of Comfort to Hieronymus Baumgärtner's Wife," Vol. 64, p. 312,
is, as stated in the note to the register, Vol. 65, p. 47,
not by Luther, but by Melanchthon.

Furthermore, of the 88 numbers in the appendix [Nachlese] in the 64th and 65th volumes,
18 are printed entirely elsewhere and 2 partly, chiefly in the Table
Talk and the letters. Of these I here communicate only those writings which are also
