Dies ist eine Ankündigungsschrift der vom Verfasser unternommenen
Doppelausgabe der Sinaitischen Bibelhandschrift. Ueber diese letztere wird
Folgendes berichtet. Von der kaiserlich russischen Regierung ist Prof. Tischendorf
mit der Herausgabe der von ihm aufgefundenen Bibelhandschrift beauftragt.
Der Text des Handschrift wird in drei Foliobänden erscheinen, von
denen die beiden ersteren alles, was dem Alten Testament angehört, enthalten,
der dritte das vollständige Neue Testament nebst dem Briefe des Barnabas
und den Fragmenten vom Hirten des Hermas. Zu diesen drei Bänden
Text kommt ein vierter mit Abhandlungen über Geschichte der Handschrift
und den Gang ihrer Entdeckung, über ihr außerordentlich hohes Alter und
ihre Wichtigkeit für die biblische Text⸗Wissenschaft. An diese Abhandlungen
schließt sich der paläographisch⸗kritische Commentar an über mehr als 7000
durch alte Correctoren umgeänderte Stellen der Handschrift; dieser Band
wird außerdem durch 20 Tafeln photographischer Facsimiles ausgezeichnet
sein, welche gelehrte Augen ganz mit dem Eindruck des Originals vertraut
machen und besonders interessante Stellen desselben darstellen sollen. Der
photographische Theil des Werkes wird im Atelier des kaiserl. Generalstabs
zu St. Petersburg ausgeführt; mit der Herstellung aller topographischen Arbeiten

This is a prospectus of the two-fold edition, undertaken by the
author, of the Sinaitic Bible manuscript. Concerning this latter, the
following is reported. Professor Tischendorf has been commissioned by
the Imperial Russian government with the publication of the Bible
manuscript discovered by him. The text of the manuscript will appear
in three folio volumes, of which the first two contain everything
belonging to the Old Testament, and the third the complete New
Testament together with the Epistle of Barnabas and the fragments of
the Shepherd of Hermas. To these three volumes of text is added a
fourth with treatises on the history of the manuscript and the
course of its discovery, on its extraordinarily great age, and on
its importance for biblical textual scholarship. To these treatises
is appended the paleographic-critical commentary on more than 7,000
places in the manuscript altered by ancient correctors; this volume
will furthermore be distinguished by 20 plates of photographic
facsimiles, which will make learned eyes thoroughly familiar with
the impression of the original and are meant to represent
particularly interesting passages of the same. The photographic part
of the work is being carried out in the studio of the Imperial
General Staff at St. Petersburg; one of the largest printing houses
in Leipzig has been entrusted with the production of all the
