Synod urging the Praesidium to examine current practices at our

To Prohibit Use of Gender Neutral Bible
and Women Assisting Ministers in Worship at Schools
WHEREAS, The majority of Lutheran churches ordain women
pastors; and
WHEREAS, The feminist movement and theologies have had in-
fluences in all aspects of church life in such matters as the use of
gender neutral language in liturgy and Bibles; and
WHEREAS, The use of such gender neutral language puts aside
the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and gives a nonbiblical view of the
relationship of men and women; and
WuereEas, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is the largest

To Deal Finally with Troubling Practices
at Concordia, St. Paul
WHEREAS, Unfaithfulness to the Synod’s stated doctrine and
practice regarding Communion fellowship has long marked the
chapel of Concordia, St. Paul; and
WHEREAS, The Iowa District East in convention called attention
to this unfaithfulness in practice (already long-standing) in 1993,
and
WHEREAS, The Synod in convention (1995) resolved (Res. 3-
12) that “Congregations that serve as host shall faithfully follow
the doctrine and practice of the Synod for the celebration of the
Lord’s Supper’; and
WHEREAS, The President of Concordia, St. Paul, has defended
the unfaithful practice at Concordia, St. Paul, as though it were cov-
ered by intercommunion policy regarding campus ministry, a de-
fense which is illegitimate (i.e., Communion of ELCA students by
LCMS churches was formerly possible in instances where no
ELCA church existed); and
WHEREAS, Unfaithful practice at synodical institutions of higher
learning is most troubling since these institutions shape the atti-
tudes of professional church workers; therefore be it
Resolved, That this unfaithful practice at the chapel of Concor-
dia St. Paul be addressed and corrected by the Board for Higher
Education, President of the Synod, the District President, and the
President of Concordia, St. Paul; and be it further
Resolved, That if this unfaithful practice is not corrected within
the coming triennium, Concordia, St. Paul, be closed and put up
for sale as of Jan. 1, 2001, and the funds from the sale of the
grounds be used to reduce tuition for church-work students at in-
stitutions of higher learning in our Synod which are faithful to
Synod’s stated doctrine and practice.

at Concordia, St. Paul
WHEREAS, The LCMS has two hymnals and a new supplement
which provide a wealth of liturgy and hymnody for the church; and
WHEREAS, The new ELCA hymnal supplement has not gone
through doctrinal review, and the ELCA is now more clearly than
ever a heterodox church; and
WHEREAS, The administration and dean of chapel of Concordia,
St. Paul, Minn., have seen fit to acquire and use the ELCA’s hym-
nal supplement in chapel; therefore be it
Resolved, That the president of Concordia, St. Paul, Minn., be
