Lutheran Synodical Conference, 1958 73

Trinity, New Orleans, La.

Trinity Congregation was organized to serve the Lutherans in
the far downtown section of the city. Since then the “neighbor-
hood” has changed. Our people were “moved out.” Presently, we
are serving two major communities— 10 blocks away, West —
15 blocks away, East.

God has continued through the years to bless the congrega-
tion with increased church attendance, gifts for the Lord, services
to the church, and missionary zeal. It is such a joy to see how the
, Holy Spirit has led many of our members to place themselves, their
E time, talents, and money in the services of the Lord.

Our Christian day school is taught by Mrs. R. D. Robinson and
Mrs. C. A. Johnson, who are doing splendid work for the Lord of
the church and who are promoting good public relations in the
community. Our children for the next school year are already
enrolled. We have a long waiting list.

We sincerely hope that the church at large can see its way
clear to grant our request for a $12,000 loan for expansion.

May the Triune God continue to bless the members of the
Synodical Conference in their world-wide effort to win souls for
Christ, who gave His life so that men might live eternally in
heaven! D. P. Rosrnson

St. Paul’s, Lutherville, Mansura, La.

_ Since 1956, many drops of water have flowed down the mighty
Mississippi River, but preponderatingly more has the grace of God
flowed to us and St. Paul’s Congregation. God’s grace and mercy
has been flowing to us and St. Paul’s these two years and many
years before uninterruptedly. For the blessed Gospel of Jesus
Christ, and the blessed Sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s
Supper have been proclaimed and administered among us for more
than half a century in their purity, for which we thank God.

St. Paul’s has much for which to thank and praise God for His
blessings for the past two years and many years before. We think
of the venerable Synodical Conference, which for 81 years has un-
relentingly fostered, promoted, and maintained the unadulterated
Gospel of Jesus Christ among the Negroes, and has lost none of its
former zeal to evangelize the spiritually lost. We thank God for
having continued Luther’s doctrine of the unaltered Gospel and
Sacraments among us.

During the past two years, the Lord signally has blessed our
church, Although last year our community was visited by Hur-
ricane Audrey, which demolished our church roof and inflicted con-
siderable damage to the interior of our church and parsonage, it
was a blessing of God in disguise, for our people learned in a mani-
fold way God’s sustaining and abiding love for His children in the
manner in which He moved the hearts of the Missionary Board
and sister congregations to come to the aid of their suffering
brethren with financial help to repair the damage sustained in the
storm.
