Lutheran Synodical Conference, 1958 67

We are hoping that they will soon return to us. All of them are
land owners and those who are behind us are interested in their
church and school. We have sent out a number of girls who have
taught in many of our schools. Rev. Robert King, pastor of St. Phil-
ip’s, Chicago, came from us and we now have one young man,
Littleton Beauford, serving as vicar at Montgomery, Ala. Already
we hear two more saying they want to go to Selma and finally to
Greensboro. All of our boys and girls attended our school in Selma.

We are slowly but gradually increasing our budget. We do hope
some day to take this responsibility from the Missionary Board,
which has been so good to us. We hope that we, although few in
number, can branch out into some of the areas west of us toward

Mississippi.
May the Savior ever abide with you! S. L. GaILes

We are very small now. Many of our members have been
transferred to other congregations. We have sent out several day
school teachers, four ministers, and we have two students at Selma
now; one to be a school teacher and the other one to become
a minister. We are doing all we can to lift much of the responsi-
bility from the Missionary Board. However, we are very thankful
for its continued help. S. L. GaILEs

Here we have quite a few children. Most of our adults moved
to the city, due to lack of work here. Only a little work on the
farms brings the income. However, we are thankful. One of our
members, who moved to Ashville, Ala., is the leader in building
a church there. Our offerings seem to be picking up a little from

past years. Many thanks for your help! S. L. GaILes
