Lutheran Synodical Conference, 1958 49
E. We will seek to transfer those pastors desiring to do so
from the roster of the Ohio District to that jurisdictional body
involved in the Synodical Conference program. "'
V. It is our aim to complete this negotiation as rapidly as
possible.
The financial arrangement, if such an endeavor materializes,
would involve some $57,000 property loans, plus assumption of
a subsidization of the congregations affected in the amount of
approximately $7,500 per annum.
Regional Mission Committees
Two Regional Mission Committees have been organized and are
now in full operation. The one committee is known as the Alabama
Regional Mission Committee and the other as the Louisiana Re-
gional Mission Committee. Each committee consists of white and
Negro pastors and laymen. Both committees study carefully the
needs of each field, its present setup, and its future development.
The chairman of each Regional Mission Committee will report per-
sonally to the convention on the activities of his Committee during
the past biennium.
Budgetary Matters
The budget for the new fiscal year, July 1, 1958, to June 30,
1959, will be presented to the convention by the treasurer of the
Missionary Board, Mr. Russell Rolling, on separate mimeographed
sheets in connection with his financial report covering the last
fiscal year.
The amount necessary to conduct our work in the domestic
field for 1958—1959 is listed as $316,500. Explanations covering the
various items in the budget are offered on a special sheet attached
to the budget presentation.
The Missionary Lutheran
For many months the Missionary Board has seriously consid-
ered the advisability of the discontinuation of this “official organ
of the Missionary Board.” The following paragraph is culled from
the minutes of the Plenary Board meeting, September 18—19, 1957:
A report was given by the committee (Bajus and Kluender)
requested to study the question concerning the continuation of
the Missionary Lutheran. IT WAS RESOLVED to continue the
publication of the Missionary Lutheran until the next convention
of the Synodical Conference (August 1958) and that our Board
recommend to the Synodical Convention in 1958 the discontin-
uance of the Missionary Lutheran at that time and that this
matter be publicized in advance. The Executive Committee was
requested to edit the Missionary Lutheran during the interim.
Statistics
On the succeeding pages the statistics of our domestic field are
offered. These statistics cover only those stations that are receiv-
ing a subsidy from the Synodical Conference.
Summer School
During the past biennium, workers in the field were again
offered an opportunity to attend the summer sessions of our Lu-
theran colleges and seminaries in order to receive a new stimulus
for their parish work.
