Behalf of World Hunger
RESOLUTION 8-03
Reports 8-01, 8-03; Overtures 8-05—8-07 (CW, pp. 395—
399)
Wuereas, The distressing problems of world hunger,
starvation, malnutrition, and premature death increas-
ingly plague millions in many parts of the world; and
Wuereas, Our Lord who redeemed us to be His own
and live under Him in His Kingdom has commanded us
to love all mankind and minister to the needs of all
people in His name; and
Wuereas, Our generous Lord has blessed the vast

really need (2 Cor. 8:14-15); and
Wuereas, The Synod has already made significant
efforts in ministering to human needs throughout the
world and has received direction and encouragement
from the Board of Social Ministry and World Relief as
well as the Commission on World Hunger; therefore be it
Resolved, That the Synod set a new goal of raising
at least $2,000,000 for world hunger during the next
biennium, over and above the funds needed to continue
the ongoing world relief programs; and be it further
Resolved, That the Synod effectively implement this
effort by authorizing the Board of Social Ministry and
World Relief, in consultation with the Board of Direc-
tors, to engage the services of a full-time staff person to
assist the secretary of World Relief; the salary and
expenses for this added staff person to be provided from
the funds received by World Relief/World Hunger; and be
it further .
Resolved, That the Synod through its President and
