To Support Youth Ministry
RESOLUTION 7-05
Report 7-02, Rec. 1—4, 6—8 (CW, pp. 377-378); N.O.
Res. 7-20, 7-21
Wuereas, The Lord of the church has blessed The
Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod with people who have
a strong commitment to youth ministry; and
Wuereas, The research reported in Bridging the Gap
and Five Cries of Youth has demonstrated that a minis-
try with youth requires clear communication of the
whole Word of God, necessitates equipping youth for
faithful service to God, and requires settings where
youth can demonstrate the mission of the church in word
and life; and
Wuereas, Such ministry with youth is becoming a
more complex and challenging ministry and is of prime
importance; and
Wuereas, Funding for youth ministry in the Synod
has steadily declined since 1968, with the result that
staff had to be reduced in 1975; and

model for increasing skills for effective communication
for youth and adults), and be it finally
Resolved, That the Board of Youth Ministry be en-
couraged to implement the recommendations and priori-
ties included in its report to the Synod.

(Amendments: “whole Word of God” for “Gospel” in the
second whereas; “challenging” for “difficult” in the third where-
as; the addition of “and is of prime importance.” A later motion
to end the second resolved after the words “aggressive youth
ministry” was defeated.)
