Local and District Papers.

Memorial 511 brought to Synod’s attention the following matters:

The amount of printing which is being done in our Synod has
assumed very: largé proportions. Much of this is local, serving the
work of individual congregations, circuits, and Districts, ete. and
therefore is done under the supervision and auspices of such bodies.
A few of such periodicals have already reached a Synod-wide circula-
tion, without being included in the censorship plan which Synod has
so wisely provided for its own publications. In consequence of this
fact there is a constant danger of disturbing the harmony, uniformity,
and solidarity in doctrine and life which has heretofore characterized
the position of our church-body.

Action.

On recommendation of Committee 16, Synod passed the following
resolution : —

Resolved, That Synod request all who issue printed matter which
has not been authorized by Synod and therefore does not come under
its direct censorship to exercise every precaution in avoiding am-
biguous expressions and such suggestions as are not in harmony with
the practise observed by Synod.
