Ev. Luth. Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States. 1929. 91
rve Quinney and our inability to induce neighboring pastors to
t have compelled us to discontinue services there.
% For some time we were doing mission-work among the Indian
Eidren in the Government school at Tomah, Wis. This work, too,
Migto be discontinued because we could find no one to take care
' Plans have been made, however, to call a missionary for the
<-in the Government school and the surrounding territory.
e are from 75 to 90 Indian children of the Lutheran faith in
t school. We petition Synod to appropriate $1,600 for this work.
he work at Sherman Institute, Arlington, Cal., consists chiefly
Ryfollowing up the Lutheran Indian children coming here from
zona. The chapel, for the erection of which funds were ap-
priated three years ago, was not erected. The Mission Board for
ithern California, however, requests the renewal of the appropria-
ion, For current expenses about $125 per annum is needed.
‘The Mission Board of the Oregon and Washington District
uests an appropriation of $2,500 for a proposed mission in the
ima Reservation. Your Board is awaiting action of Synod in
matter.
». The budget for Indian Missions, for current expenses, according
these plans would have to be fixed at $22,900 per annum. Buildings
mmended, $7,500, plus the cost of the church at Oneida, if Synod
decides.
The recommendations of Committee No. 11 regarding Indian
sions (supplemented by an address of Mr. Samuel Miller, a Lu-
ftheran Indian of the Red Springs congregation) were as follows: —
