THE LUTHERAN PIONEER.
Men and Missions. Edited by L. Fuerbringer. Vol. 1V:
Our China Missions. Concordia Publishing House,
St. Louis, Mo. Price, 30 cts.
This well-written and profusely illustrated missionary
booklet tells about the work done at Hankow by the Mis-
souri Lutherans. The chapters are short, the language is
simple, the descriptions and narratives are vivid. On its
forty-eight pages the booklet brings no less than forty-
eight pictures. And every one of these pictures actually
illustrates too. The reviewer has only one objection to
offer — there aren’t enough pages in the book! :
Magazin fuer ev.-luth. Homiletik und Pastoraltheologie.
Homiletic Magazine. Deutsch-englische Zeitschrift.
50. Jahrgang, Dezember: Concordia Publishing House,
St. Louis, Mo. Price per annum, $2.00.
The Homiletic Magazine is a professional publication
for pastors. The December (1926) number completed the
fiftieth volume of this publication. It has served its pur-
pose in a most praiseworthy manner during the fifty
years of its existence and has done much to keep the
preaching heard in our pulpits at its high standard both
as to contents and form. May God grant it favor in the
eyes of our preachers also in the future, since that will
mean continued and increased blessings for the pew!
The Young Lutherans’ Magazine. Concordia Publishing
House, St. Louis, Mo. Price per annum, 35 cts.
This juvenile publication, with the current number,
rounds out its twenty-fifth year. We can unreservedly
recommend this periodical published by the Church for
its children. Would to God that our parents would see
to it that wholesome reading such as the Young Luther-
ans’ Magazine brings every month will get into their chil-
drens’ hands!
Lutheran Annual and Lutherischer Kalender. Concor-
dia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price of cither,
15 cts.
We need only announce the appearance of these two
books, since they are so well known among our readers.
Let us merely add that the number of pages has been in-
creased in both editions for the purpose of presenting
more reading-matter.
Kurzer Rueckblick auf die 50jaehrige Geschichte der
Ey.-Luth. Freikirche in Sachsen und andern Staa-
ten. Von M. Willkomm. Verlag des Schriftenver-
eins (E. Klaerner), Zwickau, Sachsen. Price, 15 cts.
This pamphlet of only sixteen pages brings all the es-
sentials concerning the origin and growth of the Lutheran
Free Church in Germany. I am sure that many of our
readers will be interested enough in the trials and prob-
lems of our Lutheran brethren in Germany to send for
this booklet.
Catalog of Concordia Publishing House, 1926-27. Con-
cordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo.
This catalog has almost 1,000 pages! It contains
more illustrations than ever. ‘The extension of the top-
ical arrangement makes it easy to find all the titles on
a given subject with great ease. The radical reconstruc-
tion of the music section of the catalog will make it very
easy for choir directors to find what they wants 50
