Our Mission-Workers in China. — The last cable
advices from China indicate that all our mission-
aries and their families are unharmed. So far the
disturbances have been far away from where our
workers are stationed. The safety of our mission-
aries in China should be the special object of our
intercessions in these days. Let us commend our
workers and their families to the tender and watch-
ful care of Him in whom alone help is found.
BOOK TABLE.
The Book of Job. By L. Fuerbringer, D. D. Done into
English by Z.H. Paar. Concordia Publishing House,
St. Louis, Mo. Bound in silk-pattern cloth. 77 pages.
Price, 85 cts.
Six years ago Dr. Fuerbringer read a very instructive
and edifying paper at the convention of the California and
Nevada District of the Missouri Synod. In his paper the
Doctor brought out the beautiful and profound thoughts
of the inspired pages of Job so successfully and master-
fully that the demand to put his exposition into a perma-
nent form became insistent. To give the greatest possible
number of readers an opportunity to profit by the reading
of Dr. Fuerbringer’s excellent treatise, it was decided to
do it into English. Pastor Paar has admirably succeeded
in his task of translation.
Augustana Mission Colony of the Augustana Lutheran
Church, Minneapolis, Minn. Thirty-first Annual Re-
port, 1927.
, The founder of this Mission Colony, Dr. C. J. Petri,
died last fall. Its work is conducted under the auspices
of the Augustana Lutheran Congregation at Minneapolis,
but receives some help from the city’s Community Fund.
The Mission Colony conducts a Mission Cottage, a Chil-
dren’s Home, a Home for the Aged, an Invalids’ Home,
and a Home for Young Women. ‘The example set by this
congregation might well be emulated by other large con-
frou tions in our larger cities in the field of Inner
issions. F.J.L.
