REPORT OF THE FLOOR COMMITTEE ON DOCTRINAL
MATTERS CONCERNING THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE
ON INTERSYNODICAL RELATIONS
Wuerras, The Committee on Intersynodical Relations reports
in Point 1 of its report, “Re the R.S. V.,” as follows:
“While we realize the value of the R.S. V. for study and com-
parison, we would caution our pastors and congregations relative
to the use of this version of Holy Scriptures in the lectern and
the pulpit”; therefore be it
Resolved, That this convention endorse the findings of the
Committee relative to this point.
WHEREAS, The Committee on Intersynodical Relations reports
in Point 3, “Re Participation in Unionistic Activities,” as follows:
“Complaints were made before your Committee that there had
been such participation on the part of some Missouri Synod men.
These complaints were discussed at length.
“Your Committee is agreed that any such participation, in
violation of our recognized principles re unionism (cf. Syn. Conf.
Proceedings, 1950, pages 133 and 134: ‘Re Unionism’ and ‘Re
Offense’) should be avoided. Such violations should continue to
receive the careful consideration and attention of all our mem-
bers, particularly our officials”; therefore be it
Resolved, That this convention concur in the findings of the
committee respecting Point 3.
Wuereas, The Committee on Intersynodical Relations reports
in Point 2, “Re Resolution of the Synodical Conference on the
Common Confession” ; in Point 4, “Re Titus 3:10”; and in Point 5,
“Re Distinction Between Prayer Fellowship and Joint Prayer,”
that it was unable to reach agreement or come to a satisfactory
settlement regarding these three points; therefore be it
Resolved, That these three controversial points also be referred
to the committees which will be appointed as outlined in the
report of the Floor Committee as adopted by this convention. ._,,,
Action by the convention: The convention adopted Report
No. 4 of the Floor Committee on Doctrinal Matters. :
