To Devote 5% of CPH Profits
to Concordia Tract Mission

Whereas, It is the purpose of the Concordia Tract
Mission to get the message of salvation through faith
in Christ Jesus into all the world through mass distri-
bution of Gospel tracts in as many languages as pos-
sible; and

Wuereas, It is the purpose of Concordia Publishing
House to publish this same Word which does the work
of God; and

Whereas, The C. T. M. is totally dependent on special
contributions to support its program of worldwide evan-
gelism; and

WHerEAS, CPH is able to show a profit in excess of
$800,000 per year after making provision for its own
current and long-range needs: and

Whereas, A mere 5% of such profits would give to
C.T.M. the expansion in worldwide evangelism publi-
cations it envisions but cannot now produce because of
its limited income: therefore be it

Resolved, That Concordia Publishing House funnel
5° of its profits directly into the Concordia Tract Mis-
sion program annually: or, famding this to be less than
prudent in the judgment of its business ieadership,

Be it otherwise resolved, That Concordia Publishing
House reduce the cost of publications for Concordia
Tract Mission to approximate a 5% contribution to this

mission annually. MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH

To Utilize Contemporary Art Forms

Wuereas, The church finds itself unable to communi-
cate with its own young people at times; and

Wuereas, The church and the world are making ex-
tensive use of mass media and media other than the
spoken word to communicate to people; and

Wuereas, Art has always been an integral part of the
worship life and liturgy of the church; and

Wuereas, Much of the church's liturgy and symbols
has arisen largely from an agrarian society and has little
meaning in an urban society; therefore be it

Resolved, That wherever possible the church develop
and utilize new and nonverbal means of communication
in its public worship and educational program; and
be it further

Resolved, That The Lutheran Church — Missouri
Synod and its Districts use all possible means to encour-
age and support the work of Christian artists in its

To Avoid Misrepresenting Biblical Figures
as North Europeans

Wuereas, The Synod has repeatedly affirmed its in-
terpretation of Adam and Eve as historical persons
created by God; and

Whereas, Adam and Eve are described by Scripture
as the parents of all existing human beings on earth:
and

Whereas, Adults and children of African and Asian
descent do not receive that impression when they be-
hold blond-haired, blue-eyed, white-skinned, fig-leafed
figures in our educational literature: and

WHEREAS, Such misrepresentations of Adam and Eve
(as well as Cain, Abel, Noah, and the holy angels) lead
many Americans of African and Asian descent to reject
these Scriptural figures as “myths” or even worse; and

Whereas, Such misrepresentations of these Scrip-
tural figures lead many Americans of north-European
descent to perpetuate an unscriptural, racial delusion
that the foreparents of the human races were “white”:
therefore be it

Resolved,

1, That The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod di-
rect Concordia Publishing House to cease and desist
from printing or publishing any further misrepresenta-
tions of Adam, Eve, Noah, or the angels of God; and

2. That the Synod warn its pastors, teachers, and
