more time is needed for this local important venture:
and

WHEREAS, It appears to us that they have a tendency
to replace the Gospel as the center with witnessing;
therefore be it

Resolved, That we petition The Lutheran Church —
Missouri Synod, assembled in convention in Denver,
Colo., July 11—19, 1969, to delay the final vote on fel-
lowship with The American Lutheran Church for an-
other 2 years; and be it further

Resolved, That a complete study of the relationship
of the Gospel to witnessing be made with The ALC.
especially as it applies to the lodge question and union-
ism as these in pastoral care require confession of faith,
be studied, and guidelines be sent to the churches for

study within a year. REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH

lished for a uniformity of practice, in order that mem-
bers of both church bodies deal effectively with the
situation; and be it further

Resolved, That we give our congregations the assur-
ance that both church bodies will take definite steps
to continue dealing with this problem in an effective
manner, on the basis of the above established and
agreed-upon guidelines; and be it further

Withdrawal from WCC

Wueregas, There is a sincere desire to establish Chris-
tian fellowship between The American Lutheran Church
and The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod: and

a distinct barrier to the establishment of fellowship
between our two church bodies; therefore be it

Resolved, That The American Lutheran Church

kindly be requested to reconsider its membership in
the World Council of Churches; and be it further

lished an understanding of fellowship with The Lu-
theran Church in America: and

Missouri Synod will be, at least indirectly. affected in
any fellowship understanding with The American Lu-
theran Church; therefore be it
Resolved, That all questions of consideration with
regard to fellowship between The American Lutheran
Church and The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod
also simultaneously become subjects of consideration
between the Lutheran Church in America and The

To Delay Fellowship Until Problems
Are Resolved

Whereas, Christians are one already in the com-
munion of saints, the invisible church: and

Wuereas, Lutheran ranks are already extended over
a wider area than if we were in one unanimous fellow-
ship or had been one big organization: and

WHEREAS, Former members who were excommuni-
cated from the LCMS would be free to come back and,
without renouncing the lodge, take the body and blood
of Jesus Christ at our altars; and

WHEREAS, We might be forced thereby to commune
some to their own damnation; and

Wuereas, The ALC declaration of fellowship with
the LCA at the recent ALC convention might mean
that we would be accepting not only ALC but also LCA
members into altar and pulpit fellowship: and

Wuereas, Some of the churches involved in this pul-
pit and altar fellowship participate and are members
of the World Council of Churches and or the National
Council of Churches; and

Wuereas, We have problems of our own which
