Ev. Luth. Synodical Conference of North America. 1950 27
3. Equipment Fund for Mission House
Many articles must be purchased for our duplex home, such as linens,
towels, kitchen utensils, etc. The Mission House is open to missionaries
as a temporary home until a permanent house has been built for them.
A gift of $25 will purchase enough linens and towels to take care of the
needs of the home for one year.
4. Office Equipment .
Special contributions in any amount will make possible the purchase
of needed materials and equipment for the office. We have ‘a central
office and small offices in the seven compounds. A duplicator is needed
for each office. $75 will purchase such a duplicator.
5. Permanent Rest House
Contributions in any amount would add to the present fund which
has been established for the building of a permanent Rest House in the
Cameroon Mountains, where our missionaries can recuperate from their
strenuous labors during a four-week period each year. At least $1,500
more must be collected to make possible the erection of such a house.
6. Bicycle Needs
A $50 donation would purchase a good bicycle. A bicycle is the
only means of transportation in some sections of Nigeria, where a narrow
path leads through jungle land to the various churches.
7. Building of Bush Houses
A donation of approximately $300 would build a bush house to take
care of the housing needs of a new missionary.
8. Secondary and Normal School Needs
Buildings must be erected to house our High School and Normal
School students. Our present funds must be augmented if this building
program is to be carried out. Donations in any amount toward this fund
would be most helpful. $5,000 are still needed to complete and equip
these buildings.
9. Seminary Fund
The amount in the treasury for the building of a seminary is not
sufficient to complete the seminary. Additional funds are necessary in any
amounts. The sum of $6,000 is required for the completion of the
seminary. .
10. Medical Missions
The building of a hospital will necessitate the services of native
nurses and doctors. Contributions in amounts of $5, $10, $25, $50, and
$100 toward the medical mission fund would help support this enterprise.
Conclusion
In bringing our report to a close we desire to give praise and
thanksgiving to our gracious God and Lord for the many mercies
and blessings bestowed upon our Church in its mission endeavors,
both at home and abroad. May He continue to bless our mission~-
aries and keep them under the covert of His wings! Our workers
are filling an office of vast and eternal consequences — an office
involving labors, burdens, and anxieties; however, they are confi-
dently relying on God’s unfailing promise that “He is with them,
