and Their Dependents.
' (Germ. Rep., p. 178.)
The Board of Support reported that pursuant to Synod’s resoly.°
tion the average support granted per person, man, woman, or child,”
had been increased from $8.50 per month in 1918 to $15.03 per month :
in 1922. The number of beneficiaries increased from 750 to almost “2
1,100; the expenses, from $75,000 to $164,000. Additional in, :
" were granted for the present year, so that the total will Probably
amount to $190,000 or $200,000. The income from the L.L.L, fang
alone has made this_support possible, the congregations in 1999 Con-
tributing only $59,658.96,
Aotion. ¢
Synod resolved —
1. To reconsider the motion passed in 1920 fixing the quota of
this treasury at 20 cents per communicant member and have the
Board of Directors fix the annual budget as prescribed by the con-
stitution.
2. To grant the request of the Board of Support to add at least
a part of any annual surplus to the Support Fund. ,
3. As to inaugurating a Pension plan, to adopt the resolution of
the English District: “Resolved, That we deem it advisable to have
the question discussed at all District conventions, and eventually at
the sessions of Delegate Synod, as to whether it would serve the best
interests of the Church and the servants of the Word if we would
grant all Veterans of the Cross who have attained the age of sixty-
eight years and who have rendered. the Church services for a certain
number of years, @ moderate annual sum as an honorarium, without
obliging them to answer any questionnaire.” As a basis for this dis-
- cussion, Synod adopted the theses drawn up by the Conference on
Support. Meanwhile those who need it are to receive support accord-
ing to the old plan, if possible, however, more than heretofore.
4. To declare its readiness to grant aid from the Treasury of
. Support to servants of the Church who are in the service of charitable,
educational, and missionary organizations of our Synod and belong
to a District of Synod, as well as to Synod’s missionaries, pastors,
proféssors, and teachers at home and abroad, and their dependents
and survivors.
