morials.

Note: The recommendation reads as follows:

Corporate Stewardship

Wuereas, The Lord of the church establishes Chris-
tian congregations through His Word and sacrament;
and

Wuereas, The Lord of the church in His Word has
determined the very purposes for which He has called
congregations into being; and

Wuereas, The offerings of His people are given to
Him —and are to be used for Him by His people as
a sacred trust —for the very purposes for which He has
gathered them into congregations; and

Wuereas, The proper use of these offerings calls for
a searching out of God’s will which should reflect itself
in an adequate division of these offerings, giving the
basic essentials of Kingdom work the priorities due
them; and

Wuereas, This requires consecrated judgment and
decisions on: the part of responsible congregational lead-
ers in spending the moneys given by their people to
God (the establishment of God-pleasing budgets, long-
range planning, etc.); and

Wuereas, Many congregations from time to time ask
the Stewardship Department for counsel and materials
in the area of corporate stewardship; therefore be it

Resolved, That the Synod’s Stewardship Department
prepare such necessary helps as will enable our con-
gregations the more to fulfill their corporate steward-
ship privileges and obligations; and be it further

Resolved, That the congregations avail themselves
of these helps when and where needed, including the
counsel of their District and circuit stewardship leaders.
