THE LUTHERAN PIONEER.

Bremen. In accordance with the desires of the
natives at Peki, a girls’ school has been established
and is maintained and managed by the natives.
Togoland, a former possession of Germany,
where the North German Mission Society has re-
cently taken control, is inhabited by Negroes and
Negroids. In the North the people belong chiefly
to the Hausa tribe, in the West to the Tshi-speaking
clans, while on the coast they are largely Ewes or
Dahomeys. : D.

BOOK TABLE.

Bible History References. Vol. I: Old Testament Stories.
By F. Rupprecht. Concordia Publishing House, St.
Louis, Mo. Buckram-cloth binding. IV and 356
pages. Price, $1.75.

This volume brings very useful explanatory notes on
the seventy Old Testament lessons of the Comprehensive
Bible History for Lutheran Schools. Nelson’s Bible Atlas
‘of twelve maps with index, a number of tables, a selection
of illustrations, a glossary, and a good subject -index
greatly enhance the value of the book. Pastors, parochial
school teachers, and Sunday-school instructors will find
in this book the historical, social, economic, and archeo-
logical information that they will need for the proper
teaching of Bible-stories.

Studies in the Psalter. By O. W. Wismar. Concordia
Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Buckram-cloth
binding. 144 pages. Price, $1.25.

The material which Professor Wismar so acceptably
presents in this book for the most part is to be found
in two German papers read by Dr. P. E. Kretzmann and
Dr. W. H. T. Dau before synodical conventions several
years ago. The two psalms treated are the 46th and the
119th. We make bold to suggest that the Literary Board
of the Missouri Synod give Professor Wismar the task of
rendering some more of our German theological produc-
tions in English. I doubt whether they could find any-
body to do it better.

Statistical Year-Book of the Missouri Synod for the Year
1925. Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo.
192 pages. Price, $1.00.

This publication represents a stupendous amount of
careful and painstaking labor; but the result as pre-
sented in its pages is of such great value that it is well
worth the labor it costs to put it out. Though of espe-
cial value to synodical officials, its pages will prove in-
teresting and valuable to all who are interested in the
Missouri Synod.

Good Manners for Boys and Girls. By Amelia OC. Krug.
Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo. Price,
15 cts. Quantity discount.

The author of this booklet deserves the gratitude of
parents, children, and teachers. It is indeed a good, com-
mon-sense guide in good manners at home, school, and
church, on the street and at the table. ,
