which are capable of being misunderstood; and be it also

to continue its awareness of the need to present all mate-
rials in conformity with the Scriptures as its teachings
are reflected in the Lutheran Confessions and the doc-
trinal position of the Synod.

(An amendment to drop the last seven words failed to
carry. A motion to divide the question failed, with only 190
standing for the affirmative. A motion to change “and the”
to “which are the” in the final words failed by a standing vote
of 337 to 435. A motion to recommit for more acceptable
wording failed. The resolution was then adopted.)
