RESOLUTION 7-09
Report 7-01, Il, D, 5 (CW, pp. 356—358)

Wuereas, The church in its mission to itself and the
society is confronted with social problems of critical
magnitude, especially in urban issues; and

Wuereas, The work of the Board of Parish Educa-
tion in aiding the church in confronting these problems
continues to be seriously hampered because a full-time
person has not been made available to provide leader-
ship and direction in dealing positively with urban
issues; and

Wuereas, The New York convention authorized the
Board of Parish Education “to appoint an Editor-Con-
sultant in urban education” and resolved “that the Synod
reassess the priorities given to the allocation of funds in
order to give high priority to this concern” (1967 Pro-
ceedings, pp. 143—144); and

Wuereas, Financial problems have made it difficult
for the Synod’s Board of Directors to enable the Board
of Parish Education to fill this vital position; therefore
be it

Resolved, That the Synod’s Board of Directors be
instructed to arrange its priorities so as to implement
the New York resolution.
