Eckhardt's Homiletisches Reallexikon, 1907–1917

A cumulative subject index to seven Missouri Synod periodicals, compiled by E. (Ernest) Eckhardt (1868–1939) and printed at St. Louis between 1907 and 1917. Under each headword it sets numbered theses, and beside each thesis the places where the periodicals had treated it — by volume and page, running twenty years past the last of Der Lutheraner's own registers. Where the archive holds the volume a citation names, the citation below is a link to that page.

The alphabetical run is here in full, Abendmahl through Wunder, assembled from five scans: two archive.org items, a pair from Google Books that closes what had looked like a gap in the middle of the alphabet, and the archive.org tail. With it are the Beichtreden appendix, Eckhardt's own printed Register, and the separate 1913 treatise Die Schule, bound in with the later volumes and kept here under its own heading.

Vorwürfe: a. Walther habe den Streit angefangen. — Er hätte es gern verhindert, daß der Streit an die Sffentlichkeit gezogen wurde, wurde aber dazu gedrungen. — Briefe Walthers aus jener Zeit. Luth. 45, 73. 74. b. Walther habe den Bogen zu ſtraff geſpannt. — Der ſpannt den Bogen zu ſtraff, der eine Lehre aufſtellt, die nicht in Gottes Wort ſteht. c. Die Miſſouriſynode habe brüderliche und friedliche Verhandlung über die Lehre unmöglich gemacht. d. Wir ſeien bloße Nachbeter Walthers. e. Wir hätten früher ohioiſch gelehrt. Unſere jetzige Lehre ſei eine neue Lehre. — Dagegen: 1. Zwar wäre es ſchrecklich, wenn unſere Lehre bisher in der Kirche nicht gehört worden wäre, ſteht ſie aber in der Schrift, dann hätte dieſer Vorwurf nichts zu ſagen. 2. Unſere Lehre iſt ſchon immer geführt worden, ſ. Zitate von Auguſtin, Luther, Chemnitz und viele andere. 3. Auch vor Ausbruch des Streites iſt dieſe Lehre in unſerer Synode geführt worden. Ein Lehrſtreit iſt ein Krieg, wo nicht mit Kanonen gekämpft wird, aber doch viele geiſtlich verwundet wer— den. b. Die Wichtigkeit eines Streites hängt davon ab, um was geſtritten wird.
